Game on!

Yep, since I last wrote on this blog, I playtested a bunch of puzzles, did a bunch of improv, asked a bunch of gamers about their frustrations, and ultimately… designed my own prototype RPG at Dundracon 2024! I’m very excited about it, since I think it combines the narrative freedom of D&D with the mechanical speed and strategy of card games like Magic.

The table in the Dundracon 2024 Protospiel room where John built and playtested the first prototype fo the game. It is covered in hand-written cards, dice, pens, and paper minifigs. There is a yellow sign on the middle of it saying "Players Wanted," and a handwritten sign under it saying "Prototype 5-e-style card came. Please help me test for ~30 min."

I’m planning to playtest it at a few upcoming events: InterGalactic ConQuest in Sacramento on Saturday, April 13, and Lobocon at Sonoma State University on Saturday April 27. To see the latest calendar and links to those events, head on over to the Wandering Crows page! I’d love to see any readers there!

I’ll have more to say about it soon enough. (Maybe I’ll even post some playtest videos?) For now, I plan to refocus this blog on my game development journey. Thanks for coming along with me!
